È il 1959 quando Franco Cristaldi riceve questa lettera da Erich Linder, direttore dell’Agenzia Letteraria Internazionale: ufficio milanese leader nel campo dei foreign rights. Simili consulenze non costituiscono nel periodo un’eccezione alle mansioni dell’agenzia. Il contributo fornisce una panoramica del network relazionale costruito, in ambito cinematografico, dall’ali e illustra le funzioni ricoperte dall’ufficio per conto della Titanus.

The Demiurge in Cinema. Erich Linder and the Italian Film Industry

“Dear Dr. Cristaldi, I am sending you to read, in the English version, a novel by Alfred Andersch: Flight to Afar that represents [...] a perfect cinematographic subject suitable for a director like Germi or Antonioni”. It was 1959 when Franco Cristaldi received this letter from Erich Linder, executive director of the Agenzia Letteraria Internazionale [International Literary Agency]: a leading Milanese office in the field of foreign rights. Such consultancies were no exception to the agency’s tasks at that time. The essay provides an overview of the relational network built up, in the field of film, by the ali and illustrates the functions performed by the office on behalf of Titanus.
